As an autistic trans woman and special education teacher at a Title 1 public school, I approach Mike Hixenbaugh’s recently-released book “They Came for the Schools” with a keen interest in its main themes: the recent attempts by right-wing groups to dismantle America’s public education system, particularly in Southlake, Texas.
