Full disclosure, I took out student loans to go to college. I did so after an injury ended my football career, and I thus lost my scholarships. I did so later in life when I returned to school.
A recent article caught my attention. In it, there are a couple of phrases that I took issue with.
”…the pause has cost taxpayers around $200 billion.”
The (SAVE) plan alone has been estimated to cost taxpayers $475 billion over the next decade.
First, why should the federal government be in the business of lending money to taxpayers? Should the federal government charge interest, confiscatory interest, when lending to taxpayers?
Second, why is building bombs and tanks to give to foreign countries considered an “investment” but sending people to school is a “cost?”
Again, just some thoughts. I encourage your comments.
