With the ongoing teacher shortage, I’ve been seeing a bunch of articles that would lead one to believe the stage is being set for chatbots to take over teaching. This latest one, from Edutopia, highlights a program of using digital devices to help kids learn to read. The spooky part, for me, is the eye tracking tech. I know it’s in our phones, but it just freaks me out for some reason.
Remember, the capitalist class is always seeking lower costs and profit growth. In a capitalist educational system, the biggest cost is the human labor. Replacing everyone with chatbots and devices seems to be the goal. I, for one, hope I never see that day.
