Going through my teacher training, so much of the work that was presented about disability and autism was from the wrong point of view. I started to call it “tragic fiction.” As teachers, we talk of “windows and mirrors” in choosing curriculum … meaning our students should be able to see themselves in the stories we share in class. Clearly, colleges don’t subscribe to this view.
It’s really amazing to see your name on a book’s cover. It’s super amazing to see your book as part of a collection that will inform the next generation of special educators and care providers. Even better than that, it’s priced so that everyone can enjoy it.

One publisher aims to change this. Lived Places Publishing approached me last year to create a book on autism for its Disability Studies Collection. I’m happy to say, No Place for Autism? comes out this month.
