Episode 34: Neoliberal Propaganda Strikes Again

The article “Neoliberal Propaganda at Play: How Private Firms and Biased Reporting Undermine Disabled Students’ Access to College Readiness” critiques a report from The 74 Million that argues public schools are failing disabled students by not offering enough college readiness programs. I argue that the report unfairly blames public schools and ignores the role of private testing companies, which often fail to accommodate disabled students’ Individualised Education Programs. I posit that these companies prioritise profit over equitable access and that the report's promotion of charter schools as a solution further reinforces a neoliberal agenda of privatising education. Instead of focusing on the supposed failures of public schools, the author asserts that the real problem lies with the capitalist education system and its disregard for disabled students' needs.
